A product of her mother, Alex has followed the blueprint to a happy and fulfilled life laid out by her mom, Wendy Matthews. Wendy has long been an integral volunteer and board member for several nonprofit organizations while showing Alex what it means to selflessly give back.
Alex is committed to volunteerism and civic work for several organizations, including Under The Woods Foundation (summer-camp experiences for children on the autism spectrum), Operation Santa Claus (organizing and facilitating distribution for Adopt-a Child toy program), Common Roots Foundation (first executive director of newly formed nonprofit tasked with creating the framework, working with board members and website designer, and spearheading the mission).
She is the volunteer race director for two charity run/walk events, the River Run for the Roots and Stinson Lake Road Race, and oversees the preparation and execution of each event, as well as outreach, fundraising, and sponsor acquisition, to make each annual fundraiser more successful than the last.
